Tomorrow – Filming in London

It’s time to pack the camera and the tripod, because tomorrow we are going out to London for filming! The plan is to capture a Doula training session on film, as well as a number of interviews with the participants. As always, I’m eager to see something new; to learn more
about the camera and how to set up an interview, but also to get an insight in
the Doulas training. I don’t know so much about it, so it will be really
interesting. You really do learn something new every day.  That’s one of the things that I love about “One world birth”. It’s such a good mix, including perspectives from many different people with many different professions. But at the same time as they all have one thing in common: Their passion for birth.

That’s a pretty powerful thought.

Filming in Brighton

Thursday’s challenge from Altofilms was for
me and my sister to go out with the camera and interview people in Brighton.
The sun was shining, so we decided to go down to the seafront. At first it was
a bit scary to just stop by passers on the street and ask about their opinions,
but the people we talked with were very helpful and friendly and we begun
enjoying ourselves more and more. It’s amazing how much energy you get! Above all, it was nice to do some filming together with my sister again. We usually do YouTube videos together, but as I’ve been in Brighton since September we haven’t done any in quite a while.

Today’s mission is to edit the footage we shoot, and thereby learning the – for me – new editing program “Sony Vegas HD Platinum 10”. Nice!

Sister and chocolate

The green screen shoot today went great! Will upload some pictures soon.

Also, today my sister Em arrived from Sweden to stay here over the weekend. We went to the old cinema Duke of Yorks and saw Submarine. The movie was brilliant, but the best of all was that Em she brought some of my favorite swedish chocolate, “Marabou”. Mmmm, heavenly!

Tomorrow the two of us will go out and film together, nice!

A green kind of screen

Yesterday we set up this baby, and today we are in for some serious green screen business. We will be shooting a trailer for Altofilms new project. Can’t tell you more about this project now right now, but it’s something new and unique that will be launched  very soon. Exciting!

New week, new challanges

Just woke up. The weather outside looks goregeous, all sunny and blue skies. If I manage to get out of the house in time (which always is a difficult task for me in the mornings) I hope to walk to work instead of taking the bus.

Have no idea what I will be doing at Altofilms today, but I am really looking forward too see what new challanges Alex and Toni will set me!

 

My wonderful weekend

Had a wonderful weekend indeed!

Friday Jenny and I had a very good night at Day´s; a restaurant with the most enormous oriental buffet you can imagine. Everything from sushi, to noodles, to curries, and not to mention the two million desserts; ice cream, cakes and chocolate fountains (Yes, TWO of them!)  Chatting and eating as
if we were in some sort of marathon, we stayed from 19.00 – 23.00 – when the
restaurant closed. Full of food and high on sugar we stumbled home in the mild night, agreeing that a buffet and a good friend is the perfect recipe for a
tasty evening.

Both Saturday and Sunday
were spent out in the beautiful sunny spring weather, with a power walk along
the seafront, a cozy picnic on the beach, and visit to the lively Brighton
pier. And of course we went out after sundown on Saturday, dancing and enjoying the nightlife Brighton has to offer.

Now Jenny is back home in Essex, and I miss her already. But after this fun weekend, I’m full of energy and ready for another awesome week at Altofilms!

Friendly Friday

Friday means school, and school means end of the week. And I have a feeling that this perticular weekend will be extra nice since my very good friend Jenny has come to visit me from Essex where she works as an au-pair. Haven’t seen her since december so we have a lot of catching up to do. Friendly Friday today, and a wonderful weekend to look forward too!

Focus on the camera

My first week at Altofilms is soon over, and I it’s been really great! Alex and Toni have been focusing on teaching me how to use the camera, a Sony HVR Z7E. A rather small and simple camera according to them, but for me – a die hard Handy cam user – it seemed HUGE and a little intimidating with all those buttons at first.

However, Alex assured me that all video cameras more or less have the same features – a bigger camera just makes it easier to handle them. When you understand the basics it’s easy. It’s like learning how to drive a car; at first it can seem impossible to maneuver the gear and the clutch, but as soon as you get the hang of it, it becomes second nature.

So, BEEP BEEP, here we go!

First post as a film intern

And I said that I would never start a blog….

Yet here I am, typing away on my computer, honestly pretty excited about my first post as an intern at the company Alto Films in Brighton, England.

I am “Brightonfilmintern”, a 19 year old girl from Sweden, with a dream of learning more about film and the process of filmmaking. Follow me and my adventures with Toni and Alex from Alto Films, as that dream is about to come true.
